Lady dipped cheese graters in pastel paint. You’ve never seen anything like this.

Transforming everyday kitchen items into unique home decor can be both rewarding and stylish. This DIY project turns ordinary cheese graters into charming vintage jewelry stands by dipping them in pastel paint. Not only is this a fantastic way to upcycle items you might already have, but it also adds a touch of whimsy and elegance to your space. These jewelry stands are perfect for organizing your favorite accessories while adding a pop of color to your room.
These vintage jewelry stands can be styled beautifully in a bedroom or dressing area. Pair them with other pastel-colored decor items, such as vases or picture frames, to create a cohesive look. Consider placing them on a wooden dresser or a marble vanity to enhance their vintage charm. You can also use them as a centerpiece on a shelf, surrounded by books and small plants, to add a touch of personality and color to your interior design.

Materials
Metal cheese graters (preferably with a flat base)
Pastel acrylic paint (colors of your choice)
Paintbrushes or foam brushes
Sandpaper (medium grit)
Clear acrylic sealer spray
Newspaper or drop cloth
Rubber gloves
Directions
Start by cleaning the cheese graters thoroughly to remove any residue or rust. Dry them completely.
Use medium-grit sandpaper to lightly sand the surface of the graters. This will help the paint adhere better.
Lay down newspaper or a drop cloth to protect your work surface. Put on rubber gloves to keep your hands clean.
Choose your pastel paint colors. Using a paintbrush or foam brush, apply a thin, even coat of paint to each grater. Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying a second coat for full coverage.
Once the paint is dry, spray a clear acrylic sealer over the graters to protect the paint and give it a nice finish. Allow the sealer to dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Once everything is dry, your vintage jewelry stands are ready to use. Place them on your dresser or vanity and hang your jewelry through the grater holes.

Variations & Tips
To add a personal touch, consider using stencils to paint patterns or designs onto the graters after the base coat has dried. You can also experiment with metallic paints for a more glamorous look. If you prefer a rustic style, try distressing the paint slightly with sandpaper after it has dried to give the graters a shabby-chic appearance. Additionally, you can attach small hooks or knobs to the sides of the graters for extra hanging options. These variations allow you to customize the jewelry stands to match your personal taste and home decor.
